鏡 · kagami
A mirror for my creative persona.
Kagami is the name I use for creative work, my pen name, my artist persona.
“Kagami/鏡” means “mirror” in Japanese.
The name stuck with me for so many years that I decided to make it mine: it reflects my own personality, how I like to present and project myself to people. Kagami is both a male and female name in Japan, it’s a duality — reflections of one identity. Twins, doubles and opposites are ambiguous, full of mythos in the Japanese culture. I usually hide my true self and want to express what I don’t show as a person through my creative projects.
It is also a pretty uncommon name that sounds like Jeremy: three syllables and a rhyme, かがみ, ka-ga-mi.
